Women Building Women (WBW)
The program is based on recurring themes noticed in CMW’s interactions with various groups of racialized Muslim women in Waterloo Region. WBW aims at providing women an opportunity to take steps toward breaking the chains of social and economic isolation that are holding them back from becoming a productive part of the community.

We’re doing this throughfour programs, Career Coaching Circles, Leadership and Board Governance Training,Taste Kitchen, and Rising Together: Women Entrepreneurs.
The first of these programs offers a career training workshop through a series of workshops offered over a six-week period. The curriculum will teach newcomer women with post-graduate education in their countries of origin and international work experience.
These two qualities, whichsome could consider as advantages, act as barriers for newcomer women when they move to Canada.
CMW wants to give women the tools to be able to continue their professional journeys smoothly. We believe they can find their way in the Canadian work environment if they’re shown the ropes of how to navigate the complicated human resources world.
The career coaching program also gives participants hands-on training in how to create a prominent LinkedIn profile, update their resumes, write impactful cover letters, and succeed in job interviews.
Leadership and board governance trainings enable women to gain skills that are needed for them to seize volunteer opportunities in community organizations. This program teaches women how to create a circle of influence not only in their own community but also in the community at-large. With this confidence, they can commit time to social organizations that serve causes near and dear to them.
The 12-week program offered in partnership with Conestoga College School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts and The Cowan Foundation is a way for women to gain professional culinary talents, while learning hospitality and management skills.
With the Rising Together: Women Entrepreneurs, we foster women’s entrepreneurial spirit by connecting them with specialists that will provide guidance in how to set up a business and the tools to prosper. The goal is not only to respond to the social isolation racialized Muslim women may feel because of their unique backgrounds and possible language barriers, but also to enable their active involvement in the community.
